Collection Dates set for September 8 at A&P and Pathmark

Donate on September 8th to help US military troops serving in Afghanistan

            The Jefferson Arts Committee is conducting an Operation Enduring Freedom drive to collect personal items for Jefferson Township residents who are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan and other overseas posts and are asking for the public’s help in collecting items as well as accepting monetary donations to purchase requested items and help cover postage costs.  Members of the committee will be collecting at the A&P on Berkshire Valley Road in Milton/Oak Ridge and at the Pathmark on Route 15 South in Lake Hopatcong on Saturday, September 8th from 9 am to 3 pm.

            Operation Enduring Freedom Collection Boxes have also been set up around Jefferson Township at Fulton Bank, Lake Hopatcong Post Office, Jefferson Twsp. Public Library, Berkshire Valley Cleaners, Lakeland Bank, Jefferson Twsp. Municipal Building, Magic Cleaners Hair Amendz, OPT Physical Therapy & Wellness, Harmony Salon, and Gibraltar Bank.

            The wish list of items to be collected includes K-cups for coffee makers, iTunes gift cards, peanut/nuts/dried fruit snack packs (or other grab-and-go single-serving snack packets), coffee beans or fresh ground coffee, mini Tootsie Rolls, new release movies/DVDs, bread mixes for bread machines, bath and body lotions for female troops,  Girl Scout cookies, Amazon gift cards, cookies, laundry soap and dryer sheets (either packets or small containers), beef jerky, slim jims, baby wipes, magazines, powder drink mixes (packets), hot chocolate packets/herbal teas, stationery, envelopes and blank cards to send home, game books, batteries (AA, AAA, C, D), 3-volt batteries, and gallon zip-lock bags.   

            Operation Enduring Freedom Donation Cans can be found at Tyler’s Barber Shop, KamBo Kitchen, Lox Stocked and Bageled, Magic Cleaners, Pinto’s Pizza, AJs Country Cone, Town Square Diner, Mario’s Pizza, Foreign Auto Service, Espanong Market, The Dawg House, Chicken Pork and More, Adam’s Bagels, Buzz Cuts, Curves, sneaky Pete’s The Windlass, Lakeside Hardware, Headley Lumber, Jefferson Dairy, Salon 15, and Buccieri’s Gems.  Monetary donations in the form of a check payable to the Jefferson Arts Committee can be mailed to Jefferson Arts Committee, Operation Enduring Freedom, P.O. Box 2604, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.

            The Committee is compiling a list of Jefferson Township residents who are presently serving their country in Afghanistan or in military hospitals.  Anyone wishing to submit  a name should contact Donna West by mail at P.O.
