Your organization should be in the Jefferson Township Day Parade!

Your organization, school, scout troop, church, or business is invited to participate in this year’s Jefferson Township Day 2007 Parade along Weldon Road on Saturday, July 14.  As you may know, this traditional parade kicks off the opening of the Jefferson Township Day celebration, and it is the hope of Chairpersons Jeanne Hantson and Betty Eastman that your group can be a part of this event.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 am with assembly at the Jefferson Township Municipal Building parking lot located at 1033 Weldon Road, proceeding up to the Jefferson Township High School field, approximately one-quarter of a mile.  All participants must register with the Jefferson Arts Committee and indicate whether they will be marchers, ride in a vehicle or a float, and/ or play music or perform some activity along the parade route.

A mandatory meeting with a representative of each group and the Jefferson Township Police Department is being planned for mid-June so all registrations must be received as soon as possible.  This meeting will ensure everyone’s safety with a review of drop-off procedures and parking stipulations before the parade begins and the road is temporarily closed to traffic.

If your group is interested in being part of this old-fashioned town parade, please contact Jeanne at 973-697-9181 or Betty at 973-697-8283 immediately so you can register.  Once your paperwork is received, you will be contacted as to the time, place, and date of the mandatory participation meeting.  Note that if someone from your group does not attend the meeting, unfortunately, your group will not be able to participate in the parade.

So, let’s show some community spirit and make the parade line-up for the 21st annual celebration of Jefferson Township Day the best one yet!
