Registrations being accepted for Gingerbread House Contest
The Jefferson Arts Committee has scheduled its 4th annual Gingerbread House Contest as part of its upcoming Christmas in the Village event scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2009. The Contest will be held in the American Legion Post #423 Hall located on Legion Road in Milton/Oak Ridge.
Age divisions for participation are 4 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 11, 12 to 14 years of age, and 15 through adult. The rules are simple – create your own homemade gingerbread house or construct one from a purchased kit. Choose any type of structure with landscaping not to exceed 12” wide x 12” high x 12” long, and all materials (except for a cardboard/wood/plastic base) must be edible! Judging will be based on the use of different edible materials, creativity, and originality; and prize ribbons will be awarded in all divisions for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
To enter, pre-registration is required accompanied by a $5 entry fee. Entry forms will be available at the Jefferson Township Public Library, Municipal Building Lobby, or Camp Jefferson’s Recreation Department brochure racks. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.jeffersonarts.org
Just indicate the type of entry and the age of the person entering on the form along with the other required information and checks can be made payable to the Jefferson Arts Committee. Mail to Debi Merz, 4 Ross Court, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438 no later than November 28.
All gingerbread houses must be dropped off at the American Legion Hall on Friday evening, December 4 between 6 and 8 PM. Prize ribbons will be awarded, and the public can view all entries and winners on Saturday, December 5 at the Legion Hall between 10 AM and 4 PM. Participants must pick up their entries no earlier than 4 PM but by 5 PM.
