Dr. Brian and Friends on August 29

Dr. Brian and Friends to perform at the Jefferson Gazebo on August 29

The Jefferson Arts Committee’s Gazebo Committee is pleased to announce that the band Dr. Brian and Friends will appear in the 2014 free summer concert series on Friday evening, August 29.  The show will be held in the beautiful Victorian gazebo located in the Jefferson Township Municipal Complex, 1033 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ beginning at 7 pm and is sponsored by The Jefferson Arts Committee.

Dr. Brian and Friends play Classic Rock tunes in venues and private parties that include the works of the Eagles, Van Morrison, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, the Rolling Stones, CSN&Y, Bob Dylan, and more.  Dr. Brian is actually Dr. Brian Voynick, DVM, owner and director of the American Animal Hospital in Randolph and appears on News 12 NJ’s “The Pet Stop”.

Dr. Brian began performing in bands on keyboard in Union Catholic High School then went on to perform (as a Pre-Veterinary student) in pubs around Cook College/Rutgers University in the '70's.  Since then, he was fortunate to be in a band who opened for "Chicago" in Orlando, FL, then opened shortly after for "Hootie and the Blowfish" in Las Vegas 8 years ago.  For the past several years now, he’s been playing with NJ musicians including his Clark Twp. kindergarten through eighth grade classmate Gary Oleyar, who tours regularly with Loggins and Messina as their violin player and guitarist.  Then there’s Joe Bilotti, Professor of Music at CCM and guitarist of The Soft Parade (The Doors tribute band); Lenny Grasso who's an accomplished bass player and sound engineer who previously worked with the late Less Paul; Steve Schupsky, who is not only an exceptional drummer but vocalist as well; and James Mitchell on Tenor Sax.

Attendees are asked to bring a blanket or chair for their comfort; and non-alcoholic beverages, picnic dinners, and snacks are permitted on the grounds unless the concert is moved indoors due to weather conditions.  In the event of the threat of inclement weather or such weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Jefferson Township High School auditorium, 1010 Weldon Road.  For information and updates, call 973-697-2032 or 697-3828, log on to www.jeffersonarts.org or www.jeffersontownship.net

What a great way to end the week and wind down for the weekend.  Remember, dancing and singing along is always encouraged at these summer concerts; and free-will donations are always gratefully accepted.
