Bicycle Conteset

Decorated Bicycle Contest returns to Jefferson Day

The Jefferson Township Day XXIX township parade will once again include a Decorated Bicycle Contest on Saturday, July 11.  Children as well as adults are invited to participate by decorating their tricycle or bicycle in the colors of our country’s flag – red, white, and blue.  Then ride it proudly in the township parade at 11 am along Weldon Road!

The members of the Knights of Columbus Joseph F. Lamb Council #5510 in Milton/Oak Ridge will judge the contest; and trophies will be awarded after the parade for the “Most Original,” the “Funniest,” and the “Best Appearing.”  Medals will be given to all participants.

There is no pre-registration or fee to participate, and riders and their decorated bicycles should assemble no later than 10:15 AM in the Jefferson Township Municipal Building complex located at 1033 Weldon Road.  Motorists should be aware that Weldon Road will be closed at approximately 10:30 am so allow plenty of time for drop-off.  Be sure to follow the posted signs and the Parade Marshalls’ directions as where to drop off and where to park.

The bicycle contest participants will be accompanied by members of the Knights of Columbus Council into the parade line-up and proceed up Weldon Road for the parade.  Parents are encouraged to walk along with their young children, and all children must wear a bicycle helmet.

Any group interested in march/riding in the parade can contact Mike Murphy at 908-208-5190 or globemaster2@hotmail.com
