Former Arts’ Karts owners invited to be in the Jefferson Township Day Parade
If you participated in the Jefferson Arts Committee’s Arts’ Karts Derby race in 2013 and 2014, you are invited to ride your kart in this year’s Township Parade which will open up the activities of the 29th annual Jefferson Township Day celebration on Saturday, July 11.
While the Arts Committee so enjoyed hosting those two races the past two years, interest dwindled this year so it was time to bring back the Parade and suspend the derby race in 2015. However, if you still have the Arts’ Kart that you constructed and rode in those events, please bring it to this Jefferson Township Day event and ride it proudly in the parade.
There is no pre-registration or fee to participate, and riders and their Arts’ Karts should assemble no later than 10:15 AM in the Jefferson Township Municipal Building complex located at 1033 Weldon Road. Motorists should be aware that Weldon Road will be closed at approximately 10:30 am so allow plenty of time for drop-off. Be sure to follow the posted signs and the Parade Marshalls’ directions as where to drop off and where to park.
Arts’ Karts participants will be incorporated into the parade line-up and proceed up Weldon Road past the high school and onto the JTHS field with the other parade participants. Parents or a responsible adult will be required to walk along with their young children and may have to pull them along as Arts’ Karts are unpowered, relying completely upon gravity to move.
